This position is located in the Executive Office of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), Executive Direction and Management. The incumbent reports to the Chief of Office.

工作内容

Within the Executive Office and under the supervision of the Chief of Office, the incumbent will:

• Liaise with various parts of the Office to support preparations for briefing the High Comissioner and/or Deputy High Commissioner (HC and/or DHC) on policy issues, pending missions, visits and meetings within the incumbent's areas of responsibility;

• Ensure appropriate flow of information into, among and out of the Executive Office on issues within the incumbent's areas of responsibility;

• Undertake such other activities and discharge such other responsibilities as may be directed, from time to time, by the Chief of Staff;

• Provide advice on substantive and procedural human rights issues within the incumbent's areas of responsibility;

• Respond to correspondence, as directed, in timely and comprehensive fashion;

• Ensure close collaboration with the OHCHR New York Office on meetings and policy and progranune developments taking place in New York requiring HC and/or DHC contribution and/or participation.

Knowledge of institutional mandates of human rights organizations, prevailing policies and procedures. Research and analytical skills, including ability to identify and participate in the resolution of human rights issues. Ability to identify sources for data collection, research and analyze information and draft human rights reports. Ability to evaluate and integrate information from a variety of sources and assess impact on the human rights situation in the area of assignment. Shows pride in work and in achievements; demonstrates professional competence and mastery of subject matter; is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results; is motivated by professional rather than personal concerns; shows persistence when faced with difficult problems or challenges; remains calm in stressful situations. 专业要求

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in human rights, law, political science, international relations or other discipline closely related to human rights. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

工作经验

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in human rights or closely related area at international level is required. Experience working in the UN Common System or other international organization is required. Experience in providing support to senior officials/management is desirable.

语言要求

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English and working knowledge of another UN official language is required.

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which will be followed by competency-based interview.
