Staff members are subject to the authority of the Secretary-General and to assignment by him or her. In this context, all staff are expected to move periodically to new functions in their careers in accordance with established rules and procedures.

These positions are located in the Spanish Translation Service, Documentation Division (DD), Department for General Assembly and Conference Management (DGACM), New York. The DD facilitates the deliberation and decision-making processes of intergovernmental and relevant expert bodies and United Nations conferences by providing efficient and effective conference-servicing support while ensuring effective multilingual communication and the equal treatment of all official languages. The incumbents report to the Chief of Service.
工作内容
Within delegated authority, the Reviser will be responsible for the following duties:
- Revise translations dealing with a broad range of subjects dealt with by the United Nations.
- Translate, without revision, texts covering a broad range of subjects dealt with by the United Nations, particularly those subjects requiring experience and recognized proficiency.
- Manage projects in the areas of terminology, translation, documentation and training of language staff.
- Develop new terminology for use where none exists in the target language.
- Carry out linguistic research and prepare terminological glossaries, technical vocabularies and related reference tools.
- Counsel and assist translators and brief them on the procedures and practices of the Service, terminology and a broad range of subjects, as required.
- Supervise the work of small groups of translators and other language staff.
- Perform other related duties as required.

专业要求
A first-level degree from a university or institution of equivalent status. Candidates for these positions must have passed the United Nations Competitive Examination for Spanish Translators.
工作经验
A minimum of five years of experience in translation, self-revision and use of relevant computer software, electronic tools and databases, of which three years preferably at the United Nations or a similar international organisation. Experience in project management in the area of conference services, terminology, translation, documentation, multilingualism and training of language staff is desirable.

A perfect command of Spanish, which must be the candidate’s main language. Must also have an excellent knowledge of at least two other official languages, one of which must be English, as tested by the relevant United Nations competitive examination.

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
