This position is located in the OHCHR Regional Office for South East Asia in Bangkok.

Under the day-to-day supervision of the Regional Representative, and overall guidance of the Chief, Asia-Pacific Section and Chief, Communication Section, the incumbent will be
responsible for the following duties:
- Ensures implementation of information programs to publicize priority issues and/or major events, to include drafting information strategies, coordinating efforts, monitoring and reporting on progress, taking appropriate follow-up action, and analyzing the outcome.
- Monitors and analyses current events, public opinion and press, identifies issues and trends in the Asia Pacific region, and advises management on appropriate action/responses.
- Undertakes activities to promote media coverage (e.g. press conferences, interviews, press seminars and other special activities) of priority issues and/or major events in the Asia Pacific region, to include development of a media strategy and action plan, initiating pro-active media outreach efforts, proposing and arranging press conferences/media coverage, disseminating materials and consulting with press on approach/story angle and other information requests, undertaking appropriate follow-up action and analyzing and reporting on the impact of coverage.
- Produces or oversees production of a specific type or types (e.g. print, broadcast, etc.) of information communications products (e.g. press kits, press releases, feature articles, speeches, booklets, brochures, backgrounders, audio-visual materials, radio spot program, etc.), to include proposing topics, undertaking research, determining appropriate medium and target audience, preparing production plans, writing drafts, obtaining clearances and finalizing texts, editing copy, and coordinating design approval, printing procedures and distribution.
- Maintains and develops social media platforms and digital technologies to disseminate and promote outreach activities. Produces or oversees production of photos, video, audio and graphics for social media and distribution on other digital platforms. Stays abreast of latest digital technologies to enhance advocacy.
- Keeps the Regional Office website updated on a regular basis, and provides support to other field presences in the development of their web and social media presence.
- Initiates and sustains professional relationships with journalists and other key external constituencies, as well as liaises closely with OHCHR headquarters. .
- Acts as focal point on specific issues, monitoring and reporting on developments, responding to inquiries, etc.
- Works collectively with other UN regional or country-based information/communications officers to address specific regional or country-based human rights issues requiring the development of critical communications strategies, including emergencies; provides surge capacity as required.
- Provides guidance to, and may supervise, more junior staff and interns.
- Performs other related duties as required.

专业要求
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in communications, journalism, international relations, or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
工作经验
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, international relations, public administration or related area. Experience of news reporting in the
area of human rights or related fields, preferably in the Asian-Pacific region is desirable. Experience in reporting and/or editing national or international news is an advantage.
语言要求
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
