The Chief of the Business Continuity Management Unit (BCMU) is under the supervision and leadership of the Assistant Secretary-General of the Office for Central Support Services in the Department of Management.
工作内容
The responsibilities include providing advice and making recommendations on strategy development and implementation, planning and overseeing the management of activities undertaken by the BCMU.
The incumbent coordinates the Secretariat-wide efforts to implement effective business continuity management and implementation of the Organizational Resilience Management System (ORMS) at UN Headquarters, the Offices away from Headquarters and the Regional Commissions; he/she ensures the harmonized implementation of the emergency management framework by organizing the exchange of information and collaboration across the different components, initiating joint risk assessments, developing tools for monitoring and reporting to the Senior Emergency Policy Team.
The incumbent contributes to the UN Secretariat’s crisis response, by activating business continuity modes and by providing support to the Crisis Operations Group (COG); and by acting as the Secretariat for the Senior Emergency Policy Team (SEPT).
The incumbent coordinates the global implementation of the organizational resilience management system by the United Nations organizations (all UN entities represented in the Chief Executives Board, CEB) to strengthen the effectiveness and efficiency of emergency preparedness; coordinates the reporting mechanisms to the High Level Committee on Management and the General Assembly. He/she represents the BCMU in various United Nations governing bodies related to organizational resilience.
The incumbent manages the staff, including organizing the recruitment for the unit and other related administrative issues; fosters teamwork and communication among staff in the Unit/Section and across organizational boundaries; represents the Organization at inter-agency meetings, seminars, etc. on substantive-related issues; maintains contacts with pertinent authorities in the host government at federal, state and city levels and with other institutions in the public and private sector; participates in international, regional or national meetings and provides programmatic/substantive expertise on an issue, or hold programmatic/substantive and organizational discussions with representatives of other institutions.
The incumbent coordinates the preparation of reports and presents them before the intergovernmental bodies such as the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budget Questions, the 5th Committee, the Committee for Programme Coordination, the High Level Committee on Management, the General Assembly and other policy-making organs.
The incumbent carries out programmatic/administrative tasks necessary for the functioning of the BCMU, including preparation of budgets, assigning and monitoring of performance parameters and critical indicators, reporting on budget/programme performance, and preparation of inputs for results-based budgeting.

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in crisis preparedness, business continuity, public or business administration, international relations, or related field. A first-level degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in the specified fields with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Certification in Business Continuity Planning or Emergency Preparedness Planning is desirable.

A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in crisis preparedness, business continuity, organizational resilience management, or related area is required. Of the minimum required ten (10) years of experience, five (5) years of this experience at the international level, within UN system, specialized agencies or other international organizations, is desirable. Experience with coordinating a large programme with various stakeholders at the international level is desirable.

English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
